Turkish stocks up at Thursday’s open

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 4,440.36 points, up by 0.35%, or 15.45 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed Wednesday at 4,424.92 points, dropping by 1.13%, with a daily trading volume of 40 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 19.9050 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) and the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 21.3750, while a British pound traded for 24.6090 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $78.05 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,959.95.
