German producer inflation rises to 4.1% in April

Germany’s producer prices rose 4.1% on an annual basis in April, official figures showed on Friday.

The increase stemmed mainly from capital goods, whose prices were up by 6.8%, German statistical authority Destatis said in a statement.

“Energy prices in April 2023 were only 2.8% higher than in the same month last year,” it added.

On a monthly basis, the producer price index was up by 0.3%, which is the first monthly increase since September 2022.
